Description

The event was an interactive domain orientation session organized by IEEE NITK to introduce second-year students to the opportunities available in the computer, electronics and core engineering fields. It was held because many juniors enter college unsure about which domain suits them, and hearing directly from the seniors who have great experience in those fields gives them a clear, realistic picture of the options, the skills involved and the paths that follow. The speakers covered software and computing opportunities, electronics options such as WISH, and core engineering avenues, after which an open one-on-one session let students ask their individual queries and get them cleared. The session mainly benefited second-year students by helping them make informed choices, and it also helped the society leaders connect with prospective members, strengthening interest in IEEE activities and in the technical community on campus. Overall, it was a fun, interactive and informative session.

Event Details

The session was organised to introduce juniors to the different opportunities available across technical domains. It began with Vanshika, Vice Chair of CompSoc, who spoke about opportunities in the computer field. Sahasra, Vice Chair of Diode, and Ashmita, Project Head of Diode, then discussed electronics-related options such as WISH. Akanksha, Vice Chair of Piston, and Agrima, Chair of Piston, concluded the talks by covering core engineering opportunities.

After the talks, an interactive session was held where juniors asked their queries one-on-one with the speakers and had their doubts cleared. Attendees found the session fun, interactive and informative, and left with a clearer idea of the paths open to them.
