In the true spirit of divide and conquer, our community intends to explore and contribute to the rapidly evolving world of computer technologies by carrying out research and projects in the broad domains of computer science, in the form of 3 research groups : Intelligence, Systems and Core Computer Science.
Intelligence deals with fields such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, NLP. Systems is related to fields involving Operating Systems, Parallel Computing, Network Security, Distributed Systems. Core Computer Science involves Algorithms, Cryptography, Databases, Game Theory, Web & Software Development .

The first-year ML-enthusiasts are in for a treat, as the IEEE CIS *Kaggle Cup* is back! ✨✨ This is where engineering freshers *across the country* compete against each other over a few ML challenges ( Classic ML, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing ) on Kaggle, for a total prize pool of ₹6.0k that is up for grabs!! 💰 The challenge lasts for 48 hours, from 18:00 IST on 6th Feb 2026, to 18:00 IST on 8th Feb 2026. IEEE NITK Computer Society successfully organized Internship Talks 2026, a four-part speaker series conducted from 27th May to 17th June 2026. The event aimed to provide students with practical insights into internships, career opportunities, and higher education pathways through sessions delivered by senior students who shared their experiences and learnings. The series commenced with Resume Revamp, which focused on building effective resumes, highlighting projects and achievements, and tailoring applications for different opportunities. This was followed by On-Campus Opportunities, where speakers discussed internship preparation strategies, aptitude tests, interview experiences, and approaches to succeeding in campus recruitment processes. The Off-Campus Opportunities session explored various avenues for securing internships beyond college placements, including networking, online platforms, referral strategies, and application processes. The final session, Research Internships and Master's Applications, introduced participants to research opportunities, application procedures, communication with professors, and pathways to higher studies. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across multiple batches, with over 290 cumulative registrations across the four sessions. Through peer-to-peer interaction and experience sharing, Internship Talks 2026 provided valuable guidance to students navigating internship preparation, career planning, and academic opportunities, making it a meaningful and impactful initiative by IEEE NITK Computer Society.

IEEE NITK Computer Society successfully conducted CodeRed: FIFA World Cup Edition, a 24-hour Capture The Flag (CTF)-style competition for first- and second-year undergraduate students across colleges in India. The competition featured challenges across DSA, Machine Learning, Systems, Web Development, and more, with varying difficulty levels and corresponding points. Inspired by the FIFA World Cup, the event brought a competitive and engaging twist to problem-solving, with participants battling through challenges, climbing the leaderboard, and competing for the CodeRed World Cup. The 24-hour competition provided participants with a hands-on platform to test their technical skills, explore new concepts, and compete in a fast-paced environment.
The IEEE NITK Chapter presents the Athenaeum Talk Series as part of IEEE Week, featuring seven days of talks by leading researchers, academicians, and industry experts. The series explores emerging trends in engineering and computer science, promotes knowledge sharing, and encourages technical engagement and professional networking among students.
Mangalore CS Tech Summit is a one-day technology event organized by the IEEE CS Bangalore Chapter that brings together industry leaders, technology professionals, researchers, academicians and students to explore emerging areas of Computer Science. The summit provides a platform for sharing knowledge, showcasing innovative solutions, discussing practical technical challenges, and engaging with the broader technical community. The event will feature expert talks, technical sessions, panel discussions, demonstrations and networking opportunities covering emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity and Data Science. The event is designed to benefit CS-related communities, particularly students, faculty and professionals in the Mangalore region.
Praelium is a national-level mock programming contest organized by the IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter of NITK Surathkal to prepare 1st and 2nd-year undergraduates across India for IEEEXtreme. Held in a hybrid format on 15th October, the 2-hour contest features teams of up to 3 members solving 6-8 original problems designed to mirror IEEEXtreme’s structure and difficulty. Praelium aims to strengthen problem-solving skills, encourage collaboration, and introduce young programmers to competitive programming in a beginner-friendly environment.
